Modern Contemporary Furniture from Hatzi Designs

Born in on an island in Greece, Michael Hatzigeorgiou began his career as a furniture designer and builder at the young age of fourteen. He studied furniture design at the Piraeus Vocational Trade School while working as an apprentice furniture maker. During this time he designed and installed kitchen cabinets, worked on interior design projects and decoration for retail stores, and built custom-made furniture.

Michael moved to Northern California in 1985 and continued working in the furniture manufacturing industry, designing and building bars and serving carts for use in hotels and restaurants. In addition, he restored and refinished antiques and built antique reproductions. For the past thirteen years, he worked as a shop foreman overseeing up to ten workers as he helped to design and construct modern contemporary furniture.

When Michael's job was outsourced to China, he saw a golden opportunity in front of him. Now Michael is using his unique talents and skills to create an exciting line of modern contemporary furniture.
